Come celebrate Winery Wednesday with us as we feature William Marie Wines!
William Marie Wines (WMW) was founded in 2015 by husband and wife Edward (Ed) William and Monique (Mo) Marie Lefferts. Ed and Mo met while working together in resort restaurant in PHX AZ. Following Ed’s graduation from ASU in 2010, the two packed up their belonging and 5 dogs and moved to Portland OR site unseen. The dream was make wine, but Mo didn’t know this yet. Both worked nice restaurant jobs to start, Mo at the historic VQ, and Ed with the Ringside group. During these years, Ed was studying for his Certified Sommelier Exam, while volunteering at wineries at every opportunity. In 2014, they tested the water by making a barrel of Walla Walla Syrah in their Lake Oswego garage. In 2015, WMW was licensed and permitted for commercial production and began by renting space in Dundee. Fast-forward to present day, they are in the middle of their 10th vintage, having grown from 5 barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon in 2015, to filling 27 barrels including Cabernet, Cab Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc in 2025. Both Ed and Mo still work full time in restaurants, now Mo is in Newberg at the Painted Lady, and Ed works evenings at the Vancouver waterfront’s El Gaucho steakhouse. When they are not at work , they are enjoying spending time with their dogs, and trying to share as much wine as possible.
